Blackened Cajun Salmon

ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1½ pounds wild-caught salmon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven broiler to high and set an oven rack 6 to 8 inches (20 to 25cm) below the top heating element
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
  3. Rub both sides of the salmon with oil and place on a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the fish, rubbing it in with your fingers to make it’s evenly coated.
  5. Broil for 5 to 8 minutes (depending on the thickness), or until it flakes easily with a fork and is opaque in the center.
