FOOD WAS MY FIRST LOVE.
And I’ve never gotten over it. I enjoy everything about it - the colors, the textures, the aromas, the gorgeous, the weird, the science behind it and the satisfaction it brings to our lives. All this means I’m crazy-passionate about nourishment and how it impacts our health.
My intense relationship with food began at a young age and it wasn’t always a healthy one. Frequent migraines, fibromyalgia and problematic skin led me to seek nutrition as medicine in my late teens after traditional medicine offered no answers beyond prescription medications. Don’t get me wrong, my family is well populated with medical professionals and I am an evidence-based practitioner. I am grateful to Western medicine, but I understand what it is to travel a health journey that leads to disappointment and frustration.
In those early days, my approach to nutrition was full of fear and restriction, believing this is what I needed in order to heal. I didn’t heal.
It wasn’t until I chose nutrition as a career that things shifted. I researched, experienced, experimented and knew I had found “my why” - the thing I could share with other people that would make a difference. I learned the importance of not only the power of food, but also sleep, managing stress and moving my ass daily. What was once my health puzzle became a complete picture.
My path to coaching intuitive and mindful eating - as opposed to counting calories or macronutrients and asking my clients to adhere to a “diet plan” - was a natural progression after noticing that traditional methods were antiquated and not effective long term. The approach resonated deeply after my own struggles with using food and other substances as coping mechanisms. It’s rewarding work to guide clients through the process of intuitive and mindful eating, which offers a sustainable way to reach your health goals without the shame, rules, judgement and guilt of restrictive diets.

Born in Italy, living and raised in Chicago, Barbie holds an RDN from Loyola University Chicago and a health coach certification from The National Society of Health Coaches. In her private practice she works as a private coach, educator, passionate speaker and popular corporate wellness consultant.
Her primary goal is to help her clients achieve optimal wellness without the rules of dieting, but rather through a genuine understanding of what meets their specific needs.
Barbie’s approach is evidence based and holistic, emphasizing nourishing foods, quality sleep, daily movement, managing stress and prioritizing self care. Her philosophy is a unique blend of advocating anti-inflammatory and pro-gut health foods with a healthy dose of “food that feeds the soul”. She is passionate about the intuitive & mindful approach to eating and executes a deep knowledge of the psychology and neuroscience behind our behavior surrounding food.
