BARBIE BOULES, RDN | THE COGNITION DIETITIAN
Hi, I’m Barbie
My work is a love letter to my mother, and to women everywhere.
My mission is empowering women to navigate midlife with a forward-thinking emphasis on cognitive fitness, and optimal brain aging.
At the heart of all of my research, workshops, speaking engagements, and social media content is a singular goal: to provide exceptional quality, up-to-the-minute, uncomplicated information about how you can protect your brain and thrive — physically, mentally, and emotionally — through the menopause transition, and beyond.
Let me guide you through the science and simple truths necessary to calm health anxiety, and experience cognitive confidence, excellent health, and genuine joy as you age.
I’m thrilled to be able to bring you my weekly newsletter – The Synapse – where I share practical, yet powerful nutrition and lifestyle strategies that fuel brain power, and help reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
My Story
I’ve been in the field of women’s nutrition for over 20 years, serving over 1800 private clients and creating corporate wellness programming for over 100 organizations worldwide. I’m fiercely dedicated to providing you with trustworthy, evidence-based insight, because I see daily the damage that results from the widespread health misinformation so prevalent today.
I absolutely love my work, but my passion evolved into purpose when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2022. I went from daughter to primary caregiver overnight, with an up-close, unfiltered, daily view of neurodegenerative disease.
This got me thinking — today’s generation of midlife women is rejecting outdated messages about our appearance, and embracing strong bodies over skinny ones. We’re recognizing the importance of exercise to strengthen our hearts and muscles for physical fitness, but if we truly want to age well, we must put equal emphasis on our cognitive fitness.
My life’s work will be helping to change the trajectory of women’s risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
When I’m not researching and creating content for you, I’m hanging out with my amazing 17 and 22-year-old sons (who actually want to hang out with me too - pinch me), and my feisty, arugula-loving cat George; caring for my beautiful mom; forever experimenting in my favorite place: the kitchen; dreaming of soul-nourishing travel; and speaking about women’s midlife health around the country, and on Instagram.
I’m here to offer tools and resources for you to build a mind that thrives, so you can enjoy better cognitive power today, and reduce your risk of cognitive decline in the future.
Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here.
Stay curious.
